Today I feel proud that I …

I grew up in Oregon in a very religious environment. I was taught by my parents that I must be faithful to God and attend church at every opportunity and support our church by giving 10% of all I earned and by doing so, God would bless me. If I acknowledged Him as my personal savior, he would have a place reserved in Heaven for me when I die or if the rapture takes place before then, I would be caught up to be with Him in the air. This all “sounded” so well and good. In my later years of high school, I thought I wanted to be an Assembly of God preacher. I took speech classes and thought God must be blessing me for His ministry when I won state-wide speech contests and even began at that young age preaching at events such as Easter sun-rise services. I even went a year to Bible school in prep for my mission to serve God and spread His Word to all creatures.
It was while I was in Bible school, I began to question the validity of what I was being taught. For example I questioned where the Bible says when Christ was crucified darkness covered the earth and the dead rose from their graves. I found in my own research, that indeed there was plenty of documentation other than the Bible that Jesus was martyred but found it so interesting that NOWHERE could I find any record of the darkness or people raising from the dead and going into the city as the Bible says. Not only that I reasoned, if that were true, surely that event alone would have eliminated the mystery that surrounds us today about what happens after death. When I asked my teachers and other church leaders about this, I was told only that, that is what God’s Word says and that it is not for us to question. One time I pressed the issue to a preacher in a Sunday School Class discussion and was told that if I didn’t believe God’s Word, then I have a problem… not him.
Today I feel proud that I no longer am a part of such false tomfoolery and most of all glad that I chose not to go into that ministry full time although I did serve as assistant pastor of a few churches realizing all that time, I could not look anyone in the eye and declare with a clear conscious what I had been taught to teach. When I discovered Neothink a few years ago, it was like a breath of fresh air for here is where I belong. Here I have a message to proclaim that is TRUTH. That in time, biological immortality WILL happen and I don’t have to wait for some mystical Heaven or return of a man who has been dead for 2000 years.
